Visa & Entry Requirements

All visitors to Australia are required to comply with Australian Travel Restrictions.  

To enter Australia for conference attendance, citizens of certain jurisdictions must hold a valid visa.

The most common visa’s that may be recommended for short travel to Australia to attend a conference are: 

  • Electronic Travel Authority  (ETA) (601) – Quick online application. AUD20 service charge. Visa for 12-month period, up to 3 months stay each time entering Australia. More information here. 
  • eVisitor (651) – Quick online application. Cost is free. Visa for 12-month period, up to 3 months stay each time entering Australia. More information here.
  • Visitor Visa (600) in the Business Visitor Stream – Online or paper application. Up to 3 months stay. AUD 145 application fee. More information here.

Please note that visa application is the sole responsibility of the participant. The LAWASIA Secretariat and conference organisers are unable to provide visa advice or assistance.

COVID information

From 18 April 2022, travellers entering Australia will no longer require a negative pre-departure test. All incoming and outgoing international travellers may be requested to provide proof they’ve had two doses of an approved vaccine. 

International travellers to Australia must declare their vaccination status to enter Australia and should complete the Digital Passenger Declaration (DPD). The DPD requests details that are considered critical health information.
